Additional Rs. 1.5 b for fertilizer

An additional Rs. 1.5b is to be distributed to provide fertilizer during the 'Maha' farming season, the Finance Ministry announced today (21).

Accordingly, 7 billion rupees has been set aside for the purchase of fertilizer for this year alone.

In a statement, the ministry said that farmers will be granted 25,000 rupees each for 1 hectare of paddy cultivation.

In turn, the Ministry of Agriculture will in turn deposit the money issued by the Treasury to the bank accounts of each farmers.

The Finance ministry has also allocated 55 billion rupees for fertilizer subsidies for farmers in 2017.
