New circular denies dues for 20,000 retirees Featured

More than 20,000 public servants who retired in 2015 have been denied their due pension scales and dividends of the Agrahara insurance, alleges their association.

President of the association C.B.K.J.N. Yatawara blames this on the salary circular 03/2016 issued by the Public Administration Ministry.

As per an election promise in 2014, a Rs. 10,000 allowance was added to the basic salaries of public servants, in phases.

The promise through budget 2015 and circulars 24/2014 and 24/2014 (1) was to first grant a Rs. 3,000 interim allowance and then to implement a new salary scale from 01 January 2015 inclusive of the arrears.

However, the new circular 03/2016 was to implement the new salary scale from 01 January 2016.

Accordingly, public servants who retired in 2015 lose between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 60,000 as per their respective scales as well as dividends of the Agrahara insurance scheme.

The association requests the president, prime minister and other authorities to grant them their dues by amending the relevant circular.
