Reconciliation channel, soon

As an important initiative under the reconciliation week, declared by President Maithripala Sirisena, a special reconciliation TV channel under the SLRC is to be established soon.

Recently a special budget provision of Rs. 180 million was granted to the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation to facilitate and undertake programs aimed at improving peace and harmony among the different ethnicity in Sri Lanka in consultation with Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

In this regard, a project concept document and an MOU was signed by the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation with SLRC at the SLRC premises on 08 January 2017 to coincide the initiative with the President’s commencement of the third year of the Office.

The agreement was signed between SLRC Chairman Ravi Jayawardhane and Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation Secretary V. Sivagnanasothy in the presence of Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages Mano Ganeshan and Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith Perera.
