Nirupa, the wife of businessman Tiru Nadesan, is the only Rajapaksa relative who had supported President Maithripala Sirisena.
Nirupama has taken the decision in view of continuous harassment of her by the FCID, reliable sources say.
Although she had been summoned to appear before the FCID today (17) she had now been told to report in three days’ time.
Previously too, Nirupama had to make a clarification and get postponed a summoning to the FCID which was on the same day the Mulkirigala SLFP Bala Mandalaya was to meet.
However, a senior SLFP politician told ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ that it raised doubts whether this harassment of Nirupama is caused by a certain group to make her detest the party.
Recently, Priyankara Jayaratne resigned from his deputy minister position due to regular summons by the FCID.
When contacted, minister Mahinda Amaraweera said he would complain to the President over the continuing harassment of SLFP politicians, which he believes to be intentional.
