SLFP to oppose a postponement Featured

The SLFP has decided to oppose, if the UNP moves to postpone today’s parliamentary debate on the COPE report into the Central Bank bond issue, minister Mahinda Amaraweera told Sri Lanka Mirror.

The SLFP parliamentary group reached the decision at a meeting last night.

The joint opposition too, has decided to oppose a postponement, at a meeting chaired by ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

There have been reports the UNP is trying to put off the debate, citing the fundamental rights petition filed in the Supreme Court by the UNP’s Bhikku organization against the COPE report.
