Former state minister and UPFA MP - Piyankara Jayaratne says he had informed former President Mahinda Rajapaksa that certain forces within the government are constantly threatening to arrest his daughter, if he attends the Joint Opposition’s rally on Friday (27).

The MP was referring to his younger daughter Sachini, who is engaged in active politics in the Puttalam district.

Sachini has obtained a a salary for the post of international coordinating officer in the Civil Aviation Authority when her father was the Civil Aviation minister. The FCID has initiated an investigation on Sachini Jayaratne on charges of financial misuse, alleging that she had not turned up for a single day of work.

It is said that the former President had reportedly urged Mr. Jayaratne not to attend Friday’s rally and to stand up with him in public when the time is right.
