The company announced in December that it would have to close four of its vats in view of a decline in cigarette sales.
The CTC announced today (30) that two of its tobacco vats in Anuradhapura and Sigiriya would be closed, thereby causing a loss of jobs for around 2,000 tobacco cultivators in the two areas and loss of income by around Rs. 200 million annually.
