Cabinet reshuffle in March – Port to Ravi Featured

The Cabinet reshuffle that was due to take place on February 6 has been postponed for March in agreement of the leaders of both parties.

According to information received, Ravi Karunanayake is most likely to be appointed as the Ports and Naval Affairs Minister.

Two proposals regarding the post of Finance Minister has so far been received.

Of which one was to appoint Dr. Sarath Amunugama as the Finance Minister.

However, as the Finance Ministry was assigned specifically to the UNP, it is expected that the Prime Minister take over as the Finance Minister.

If such the Finance Ministry will function under a Deputy Finance Minister.

Eran Wickremeratne who has gained both local and international fame in the finance sphere is most likely to be appointed as the Deputy Finance Minister.  

Change for Kiriella too

It is believed that Lakshman Kiriella will receive the post of Justice Minister at the Cabinet reshuffle.


Ministers Wijedasa Rajapaksha, Arjuna Ranatunge and Chandima Weerakkody will also be changed in the reshuffle.
