The Minister made this comment when Sri Lanka Mirror inquired from him on the statement made by Prof. Fonseka refusing to accept the Court Order issued in the SAITM case and challenging the government to remove him from his position if the order was to be implemented.
Minister Senaratne said, on the contrary, Fonseka was given a further six month extension in January this year.
While Prof. Carlo Fonseka is refusing to accept SAITM as a legitimate medical facility, while Minister Senaratne is of the stand that the SAITM medical degree should be accepted.
Under these circumstances, extending the term of 84-year-old Carlo Fonseka is commendable.
‘Will not accept even if jailed’
However, Prof. Carlo Fonseka vehemently refuses to accept the Court Order issued with regard to SAITM and claims that even if he is arrested for it, he will not change his stance.
He said no matter which institution issues orders with regard to the acceptance of SAITM, he will not accept it.
The Sri Lanka Medical Council is expected to meet on February 17 to discuss the SAITM issue.
