The young minister will be appointed as the minister of media in addition to his current ministerial portfolio, sources add.
Several reports have already cited that the minister, deputy minister and the secretary of the ministry of media will be changed.
Speaking during a recent function at the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Mr. Nimal Bopage said he feels that he only has a short time left as media ministry secretary.
Subsequently, sources from the Presidential Secretariat said that the reshuffle will affect several ministeries including the ministry of media and that Nimal Bopage too would be appointed to another ministry.
The ministry of media will be the only ministry where changes will be seen in all three prominent positions of minister, deputy minister and the secretary. It is said that this measure will be taken due to the existance of a power struggle within the ministry.
Meanwhile, sources from the Prime minister’s office said that apart from the SLRC, ITN and the Department of Government Printing, all chairmen and Directors General of other state institutions falling under the media ministry too, will be changed.
