Mahinda’s defender convoy to visit ‘Kebiliththa’ tomorrow

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit the ‘Kebiliththa’ Devalaya tomorrow (12) in a defender parade, according to Joint Opposition sources.

Rajapaksa will initially travel to the Kataragama Devalaya and from there they are scheduled to travel to Kebiliththa in a defender parade.

This pilgrimage is being organised by a prominent businessman, D.S. Gunasekara, who is the owner of the largest fleet of busses on the Anuradhapura-Colombo route.

The pilgrims will be supplied the defenders by Indika or L.R. Motors and Sam Chandrasekara of Iron Man company and Saman Karannagoda, it is reported.

Six wheeler jeep for Mahinda

Meanwhile, it is believed that a six wheeler jeep will be provided for Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s jeep is also expected to join the procession including the most valuable jeep owned by Panadura Damith. In addition six other Y61 jeeps are also expected to join the procession for the journey through the jungle.

Kebiliththa or Siyambalawa

Similar to Thirupathy temple in India which is a popular place of worship of the rich and famous, while the Kebiliththa devalaya otherwise known as Siyambalawa devalaya is a favourite place of worship of the rich and famous of this country.

The Kebiliththa devalaya is located in the no. 2 zone of the Yala wild life sanctuary in close proximity to the picturesque Kumbukkan Oya.

Devotees visiting Kebiliththa usually abstain from vices and consumption of meat for over a week prior to the pilgrimage.
