SLFP MPs boycotting May Day rally to be expelled Featured

SLFP MPs in the joint opposition should be expelled from the party if they boycott the party’s May Day rally in Kandy, its ministers have proposed to the president.

The proposal was submitted at a meeting the president had with the ministers last week, and it will now be placed before the party’s central committee for approval.

Meanwhile, Dayasiri Jayasekara has opposed to the SLFP May Day rally from being held at Bogambara grounds.

Therefore, a decision has been taken shift the venue to in front of the Kandy marketplace, with S.B. Dissanayake tasked with its organizing work.

No action had been taken against the Rajapaksas who had boycotted the SLFP’s May Day event last year although party leaders declared at the time that they would be dealt with disciplinarily.
