‘A referendum will definitely be held’ Featured

Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella says a referendum will definitely be held to adopt a new constitution.

Expressing optimism that majority support could be obtained, he says a constitution without a public mandate will be futile.

Speaking at a function in Gampola, Kiriella said adopting a constitution would not be done only by using the two-third majority in parliament.

However, the SLFP has objected to a referendum on a new constitution, and is calling for a constitutional amendment only.
