Addressing heads of media institutions in Colombo today, he said foreign investment reserves in the country have now exceeded five billion dollars.
He also said SAITM, the private medical college at Malabe, would be listed in the Colombo stock exchange and a separate commission appointed for its administration.
He went onto say that key positions in state institutions would be overhauled within the coming fortnight.
The president said a retired judge would be appointed to identify those responsible for the Meethotamulla waste dump collapse and report back to him within a month.
Those guilty would be punished, he said, adding that the public could provide information in that regard.
