‘Vellamullivaikkal remembrance, not a threat to national security’

Anyone has the right to remember a deceased person by lighting a lamp, says minister Sarath Fonseka.

He was answering a question raised by a journalist at a dengue-eradication programme at Mahara divisional secretariat about M.K. Sivajilingam’s plan to hold a remembrance tomorrow (18) for those who died at war at Vellamullivaikkal.

Lighting a lamp to remember the dead will not endanger national security, he said, adding that spending time and effort on a weak person like Sivajilingam would be futile.
