Ajith P. Perera wagers against Handunnetti Featured

Deputy minister Ajith. Perera says he is ready to resign even from his parliamentary seat if COPE chairman Sunil Handunnetti proves his claim that he had walked out of the committee’s meeting in protest over pressure exerted on the auditor general.

If he fails to prove the claim, Handunnetti should resign as an MP, Perera told Sri Lanka Mirror.

The COPE chairman walked out, saying its members could appoint an appropriate person in his place, as they believed him to be not impartial, Perera said.

Handunnetti has clearly stated so in his minutes, he added.
