‘Aava’: President’s silence a concern to Gota Featured

The president should break his silence and reply to the allegations levelled by Minister Rajitha Senaratne that the Aava gang was created by the security forces, said former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

Rajapaksa said the military had disarmed the armed groups in the North such as the EPRLF and the PLOT and there was no need to create any other armed group, adding that as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces the President should respond to allegations that the security forces were using the ‘Aava’ group to disrupt peace in the North.

According to Gotabhaya, as this is a direct accusation against the security forces, the President as the Defence Minister cannot maintain silence while these allegations are being levelled.
