‘Needs 2/3 parliamentary approval’ Featured

The provincial council elections (amendment) draft bill needs to be passed with a two-third parliamentary majority, but not necessarily be approved by the PCs, the attorney general has decided.

The AG’s decision was intimated to the House by speaker Karu Jayasuriya today (20).

At the sittings, female MPs of the government displayed placards saying, ‘Why frightened of us?’ and ‘Opposed to women’s representation?’
