Retired major generals to megapolis ministry! Featured

Patali Champika Ranawaka has decided to recruit several recently-retired major generals of the Army as consultants to his Megapolis and Western Development Ministry.

He has explained to president Maithripala Sirisena that Prasanna Silva, Jagath Dias and Kamal Gunaratne, who had given leadership in the war against the LTTE, had been denied a dignified retirement, which is a cause for concern for themselves and the Army as well.

Another serious matter is that ex-defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s ‘Viyath Maga’ group is trying to get these senior ex-Army officers involved in its political projects, Ranawaka has pointed out.

The knowledge and experiences of these officers should not go waste, and need to be utilized for the upliftment of the country and the people, he has stressed.

The minister has already met with Kamal Gunaratne.

The UDA, which comes under him, has several retired senior Army officers appointed to top positions by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
