There is reasonable suspicion that minister Ratnayake was the caller, when Jayasundara answered the call to his mobile phone while addressing a function in Ratnapura, said Lakthilake.
The presidential adviser, in an interview regarding the issue, alleged that persons who amassed wealth through deals with thieves were now running the government.
He noted that part of that telephone conversation was in English and that it referred to a person identified as Nilame.
The police chief still has a chance to correct himself by arresting the person in question, but the caller should have no excuse, said Lakthilake.
He went onto stress the clear stance taken by the president with regard to punishing the corrupt.
