No loss over synthetic textbooks - ministry

The Education ministry has refuted claims citing that printing of school textbooks on synthetic paper had led to losses and financial waste.

In a statement, the ministry states that such alleges are illogical and baseless.

Yesterday, the Ceylon Teacher Services’ Union claimed that the government suffered a loss of Rs.132 million due to the decision to print school textbooks’ on synthetic paper.

The union also filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat on Tuesday December 27 calling for an investigation into the alleged fraud.
