President's Jaffna tour cancelled

President Maithripala Sirisena's visit to Jaffna has been cancelled after he was forced to oversee final preparations of January 08 celebrations, which marks two years since he was inaugurated as President.

Noting that the President was unable to attend an event in Homagama today because of the same reason, the President's Media Unit also refutes reports claiming that the President is ill.

President to visit Jaffna today

President Maithripala Sirisena is to visit Jaffna today (04) to meet the commanders of the Tri Forces, the President's Media Unit says.

He is to reach the SLAF base in Palaly by 11am.

After commemorating the service personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country during the war, the President is to address top brass of the Tri Forces and police.

In the afternoon, he is to open an office of the 'Tell to President' programme at the Jaffna governor's office.
