Cabinet approval for organic fertilizer project in Kandy

A German Company has agreed to implement a project to produce organic fertilizer.

According to the list of Cabinet decisions published by the official government news portal - news.lk, the project also includes the establishment of cooling storage facilities and generation of power.

The company has agreed to implement the above project with several domestic companies.

Under this project it is expected to establish an Organic Fertilizer Production Unit near the Kandy Waste Management Yard and within the first year produced fertilizer will be provided to Ceylon Fertilizer Company free of charge.

It is also expected to add 6-10 Mw of renewable electricity to national grid and reduce the amount of wastage of fruits and vegetables through establishing storing facilities.

The proposal made by minister of agriculture - Duminda Dissanayake, to implement this project as recommended by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management, has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
