Brutal attack on student at Royal-Thomian match

A Royal student was brutally attacked by an organising committee member at the Royal Thomian fifty-over cricket encounter held at the SSC grounds today. The student was rushed to the Asiri Surgical hospital.

During the match a group of students had stormed the grounds to congratulate Royal College batsman Thevindu Senartne who scored a half century.

At this moment an organising committee member known as Sajith Kularatne, an old boy of St. Thomas’s College had brutally attacked a grade 11 student from Royal.

According to hospital sources, the student who is in a critical condition may have to undergo surgery.

Defeat to Royal:

At the 42nd Royal Thomian 50 over cricket encounter for the Mustangs Trophy, the Thomians recorded victory over the Royalists by 11 runs.

The Thomians scored 258 runs in their allotted 50 overs having lost 07 wickets, while the Royalists were bowled out for 247 runs in their allotted 50 overs.
