The Convenor of the Unemployed Graduates Association, Ven. Tenne Gnananda Thera said as some of the graduates are over 35 years, they are unable to even face an interview.
He pointed out that there are protests being staged islanwide as these graduates have not been given employment opportunities so far and added that the Sathyagraha commenced by the unemployed graduates of the North and East has exceeded four months with no solution so far.
The Thera also noted that while the unemployed graduates were protesting over the lack of employment opportunities, the trade unions are also demanding for the fulfilment of the teacher and development officer vacancies.
Meanwhile, those who had passed the teacher training examinations in the Western province have also been waiting for over two years to be given their appointments.
