Probe on ‘fixed’ club match delayed

Questions have been raised as to why a probe on an alleged matchfixing during a First Class cricket match is being delayed.

The match in question was played between the Panadura Sports Club and Kalutara Physical Cultural Club. Allged involvement of several SLC officials too, raised eyebrows.

Two months earlier, SLC President - Thilanga Sumathipala had stated that a probe would be initiated and the perpetrators would be punished within a few weeks’ time.

However, the outcome of the probe is yet to be revealed.

Delayed
Speaking to ‘BBC Sandeshaya’ Vice President of the SLC - K. Mathivanan had admitted that there was a delay.

However, he had insisted that a fair investigation should be held with the involvement of all parties instead of resorting to incorrect decisions in a haste.
