IMF agreement will be amended under SJB Govt. – Sajith

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader – Sajith Premadasa has said that the current International Monetary Fund-supported program will be amended under an SJB government.

“We will definitely work to create a new, amended IMF agreement that is populist, philanthropic, people-friendly and that would guide the country on the correct path,” he said.

He said this during the SJB May Day rally in Colombo today (01).

He also vowed to bring everyone who is behind the Easter Sunday terror attacks before the law and to ensure maximum punishment to those involved as well as those who tried to cover it up.

Report on Gerandi Ella bus accident, handed over

The report of the special committee to investigate the recent tragic bus accident in Gerandi Ella, was handed over to the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs yesterday (June 11).

According to the Police Media Division, the report was handed over by Senior DIG Ajith Rohana.

The accident on May 11 claimed the lives of 23 persons while injuring 60 others.

Accepting railway parcels for Kandy – Matale line, suspended

Acceptance of parcels for transport by trains on the Kandy and Matale line has been temporarily suspended.

Sri Lanka Railways had also temporarily halted train services between Kandy and Peradeniya on the Up-country Railway Line yesterday morning (June 11) after a ground subsidence was discovered below a section of the railway track between Kandy and Peradeniya.

In this backdrop, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses have been deployed to transport passengers between Peradeniya and Kandy stations.

24/7 security to Chabad houses

Steps have been taken to provide 24/7 security to Chabad houses across Sri Lanka.

According to a statement by the Police Media Division, Chabad houses have been established in various locations for Israeli nationals residing in Sri Lanka to engage in religious activities, leisure, and also to obtain food and beverages. Due to existing threats to Chabad houses in the country, security will be provided 24/7 by the respective Police stations, it notes.

Furthermore, it states that if there is any threat concerning the safety of any foreign nationals residing in the country, the Police will assess the situation and take necessary measures to provide appropriate security.
