Station masters decide to continue strike (Update)

The Sri Lanka Railways Station Masters’ Union (SLRSMU) has decided to continue their train strike indefinitely following the government’s decision to consider all Station Masters who had not reported for duty as having vacated their positions.

Addressing the media, SLRSMU chairman Sumedha Somarathna announced that the Railways Department had declared all Station Masters as having vacated their positions.

Railway workers given deadline to report for work

Sri Lanka Railways has issued a final announcement, urging all Station Masters and Controllers on strike, to report for duty by noon today (July 10).

Railways General Manager S.S. Mudalige made this announcement a shortly while ago.

According to the statement, Station Masters and Controllers who fail to report for duty by noon today will be considered as having vacated their posts.

Middeniya triple murder : bike rider arrested

The motorcyclist involved in the murder of Anura Vidanagamage alias “Kajja” and his 02 children in Middeniya was arrested this morning (April 25) at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

The suspect was deported to Sri Lanka after being arrested in India and taken into custody by CID officers upon arrival.

The suspect has been identified as Kulasinghe Liyanage Pemal Indika, a resident of the Weeraketiya area.

On February 18th, Kajja was shot dead in Middeniya, and his two injured children later succumbed to their injuries.

Dondra double homicide : another suspect arrested

Another suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of two individuals near the southern gate of the ‘Sri Vishnu Devalaya’ in Dondra.

The crime occurred on March 21, 2025.

According to police, the arrested individual is accused of aiding and abetting the murder by transporting the gunmen involved in the deadly attack.

The suspect, a 33-year-old resident of Thalalla South in Gandara was taken into custody yesterday evening (April 24).

Further investigations are underway.
