In a significant stride towards promoting adventure tourism, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has recently inaugurated the ‘Eagles’ Skydive Sri Lanka’ Tandem Jump Sports Club at SLAF Station Koggala.

This initiative, envisioned by Air Force Commander Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, aims to provide an exhilarating experience for adventure enthusiasts and tourists.

The goal is to encourage the establishment of adventure sports across the island, thereby strengthening the Sri Lankan economy.

The Tandem Jump instructor course, crafted for experienced parachutists, involves extensive training and jumps from an altitude of approximately 13,500 feet.

Certified Tandem instructors, after completing this rigorous training, are equipped to safely guide untrained individuals in a thrilling Tandem Jump experience.

During the inauguration, several amateur jumpers had the chance to partake in this adventure.

The Commander himself participated in the inaugural Tandem Jump session to promote safety and encourage participation.

With the opening of the Eagles’ Tandem Jump Sports Club, both local and international adventure enthusiasts can now enjoy this unique sport.

The Tandem Jump operations at this club will be conducted by United States Parachute Association (USPA)-trained SLAF officers, including Group Captain Jagath Godakanda, Wing Commander Sumedha Ritigala, and Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis.

These instructors have completed 1,500 parachute jumps and received specialized training abroad, as well as participating in international parachuting shows.

The SLAF has made this Tandem Jump adventure accessible to everyone.
