08 persons have been arrested over the incident of assaulting a monk and two women at the Sri Sumanarama Viharaya in the Ihala Bomiriya area.
‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ learns that they are to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate Court today (08).
They have been arrested over the complaint made by the monk involved – Ven. Pallegama Sumana Thera, who had alleged that the group had entered the premises when he was inside with a female relative and her daughter. The group had assaulted them and damaged belongings at the premises, the Thera had added.
Earlier, Minister of Public Security – Tiran Alles had ordered the police for the immediate arrest of persons involved in the incident, who had taken matters of the law into their own hands.
The order was made last night to the SDIG of the Western Province – Deshabandu Tennakoon and the OIC of the Nawagamuwa police.
