Gayan Buddhika, the caretaker of the Hummanaya Blow Hole operations office, announced plans to offer boat access to the popular Blow Hole, which has previously been accessible only by land.
The Hummanaya Blow Hole, believed to be the second-largest of its kind in the world, attracts hundreds of local and foreign tourists daily.
Located on a small hill about 2 kilometers south of Kudawella, between the 180th and 181st kilometer posts on the Matara-Tangalle road, the Hummanaya is renowned for the sound of water and the roar of sea waves crashing against the hill, especially during the southwest monsoon.
The site, maintained and protected by the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha, provides several amenities for tourists.
These include a cement-finished staircase for easier access, a resting hut, separate toilet facilities for local and foreign visitors, and clean drinking water through the national water supply system.
Additionally, a small fee has been introduced to enhance the visitor experience: Rs. 50 for local tourists and Rs. 500 for foreign tourists.
