Investigations commenced into the suspicious death of a nine year old girl in Chillaw

The police have started extensive investigations regarding the suspicious death of a nine-year-old girl in Iranavila area in Chillaw.

The girl’s father has complained to the police that his daughter was admitted to Chillaw Hospital after he attempted to hang herself.

The girl’s mother is abroad and the post-mortem examination and the magistrate’s examination of the body are scheduled to be conducted today.

Further investigations are underway to find out whether this was a murder or a suicide.

Meanwhile, A dead body of a young man has been found in the area of Havandana area on the Mahianganaya Badulla road.

Police say the deceased had head injuries.

A 26-year-old youth residing in the Kandaketiya area has died this way.

The Kandaketiya police have commenced further investigations

Ex- Health secretary arrested

Former Secretary to the Ministry of Health – Janaka Sri Chandragupta, was arrested today (June 26) by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

He was taken into custody after appearing before the CIABOC this morning to provide a statement regarding an ongoing investigation.
