Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said that the Colombo District Court has issued an injunction order against Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Hesha Withanage.
According to a statement issued by SLC, legal action was initiated against MP Withanage for making false and defamatory statements against SLC officials.
The SLC said that allegations had been made by the MP based on a draft report by the Auditor General’s Department which was handed over to the Sports Minister, and was made public via the media.
Based on the report, a group including MP Withanage had made false allegations against SLC officials accusing them of malpractices during the 2022 Men’s T20 cricket World Cup, the SLC alleged.
The SLC revealed that the Colombo District Court has issued an injunction order prohibiting MP Hesha Withanage from making comments against the SLC and its officials based on the draft report by the Auditor General’s Department.
The Election Commission says that an ‘e-service’ has been made available to assist postal voters in locating their designated voting location and certifying officer.
The Commission noted that the platform also helps users identify candidates contesting the 2025 Local Government (LG) elections, along with their respective groups, parties, and election symbols.
