Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is set to remove MP Sarath Fonseka from the position of party chairman in the wake of his recent remarks that have stirred political implications, according to a reliable source.

The decision to expel Fonseka is expected to be executed shortly, highlighting internal tensions within the party.

A source close to party leader Sajith Premadasa revealed that the expulsion process will be initiated soon.

While the removal may lead to legal proceedings, the party leader holds the authority to expel Fonseka from the chairmanship.

Despite previous warnings, MP Sarath Fonseka has been publicly critical of the SJB and its leadership.

His recent engagement in talks with President Ranil Wickremesinghe has fueled speculation about a potential shift to the government’s side.
