The launching of the new APP took place at the Water’s Edge Hotel yesterday with the participation of the DLB Chairman Sena Sooriyaperuma, Managing Director H.H.R. Wimalasiri, Epic Technologies CEO Thalinda Kalpage, DLB General Manager Anura Jayaratne and other distinguished guests.
This new service is available on all smart phones and can be downloaded on any Android or Apple phones. The App gives details of the draw results and the relevant prizes, Sooriyaperuma said.
Explaining the 37 year history of the DLB he said the proceeds of these lottery sales provides for educational assistance for low income families and is credited into two government funds.
He noted that although many still purchase lottery tickets, due to their busy schedules, they are unable to check their draw results. This App, he said would enable them to check their results on their mobile phones.
According to Sooriyaperuma, at a time when the whole world is moving away from using paper, the DLB had also taken this step to minimise the use of paper.
