The company had agreed in courts to destroy the stock of expired ingredients, weighing 1000 kilogrammes in total. They were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 20,000. On Feb. 17, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) discovered a stock of expired ingredients at the factory located at 555/5D, Gonahena Road, Kadawatha, which produces several beverages including My Cola My Orange, My Cream, My Soda and Crystal Drinking Water bottles. Earlier this month, the CAA also sealed a factory owned by Madina Food (Pvt) Ltd, which manufactured cakes, pastries and other food items in the Wattala area through the 'caravan fresh' brand after an expired ingredients stock amounting to over Rs 15 million was discovered.
My Cola beverages (Pvt) Ltd. which faces allegations of possessing expired ingredients at its Kadawatha factory, has pleaded guilty today (20).
