The relevant Gazette Notification was issued by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Minister of Finance.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka Customs said a Special Commodity Levy of Rs.300 will be imposed on the importation of a kilogram of palm oil with effect from the 10th of April.
The Special Commodity Levy imposed prior to the revision was Rs.200 per kilogram.
Additionally, the government has revised the taxes imposed on several types of cooking oil.
Accordingly, the tax imposed on the importation of soya oil and sunflower oil has been revised to Rs.275 per kilogram.
