Salt import ban : Ravi to reap biggest benefit? Featured

It is said that Dr. Ravi Liyanage of Raigam industries will be the biggest beneficiary of the decision to stop salt imports, reports say.

Last March, Dr. Liyanage had stated that he had enough salt stocks to cover the local demand for 04 months.

Salt imports to Sri Lanka in 2018 stood at Rs. 183,700,000 and Rs. 190,500,000 in 2019. From Jan. 2020 - May 2020, the figure stood at Rs. 80,000,000.

Show profits in a yearYesterday (24), President Gotabaya Rajapaksa gave a period of one year to Lanka Salt Limited to earn profit.

The profit earned by the Lanka Salt Limited in 2016 stood at Rs. 70 million. In 2017 it declined to Rs. 32 million. The organization made a loss of Rs. 2.8 million and Rs. 10.91 million in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
