Nimal Perera parts ways with Dhammika

Prominent businessman Nimal Perera has stepped down from all Director Boards of his close business associate - Dhammika Perera, in a move that has shocked the financial market.

The move is widely seen as a fallout between the two business magnates.

According to sources, Nimal Perera had resigned as a director of Hayleys, Haycarb, Kingsbury, Amaya Leisure and Talawakelle Plantations, and also as Managing Director of Royal Ceramics.

The state owned 'Daily News' reports that Mr. Perera had confirmed handing over his resignation from March 7 and cited conflict of interests as the cause for his sudden decision.

“I decided to resign from all the businesses of Dhammika Perera after 15 years of working relationship. I thought of concentrating on my own businesses and looking at my future because I have two grown up sons and they are returning after overseas education by the end of this year,” Perera has added.
