Cabinet nod to restructure LPG industry Featured

Cabinet approval has been granted to restructure the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Industry of Sri Lanka.

Recommendations have been made by the Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana.

Out of the facts agreed during meetings with gas company representatives, related state institutions, bank representatives and field experts the following decisions were granted cabinet approval.

Litro Gas Company and Laugfs Gas Company will continue to sell a 12.5kg domestic gas cylinder for Rs.1,493.

Purchasing, transporting and storing gas will be done together by Litro Gas and Laugfs Gas companies and the Hambantota Gas Terminal will be utilized for this.

A committee consisting of experts in the relevant fields including representatives of Litro and Laugfs gas companies will be appointed to carry out the procurement, transportation and storage affairs related to the purchase of the required LP Gas for the country.

Recommendations of the sub-committee to be implemented in the next 06 months and suitable further measures to be taken based on its progress.
