COPE revealed that two persons have been recruited as Deputy Directors General on a salary of paid Rs. 1,790,000 per month.
In addition, Rs. 3,180,000 has been paid to four executive directors as wages and a senior deputy director has been recruited on a monthly salary of Rs. 820,000.
Meanwhile, the COPE Committee yesterday discussed at length an incident in which a former Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka was recruited as an advisor and was paid over Rs. 10 million during the 2020-2021 period. She had been paid Rs. 01 million per month.
The Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises convened at the Parliament Complex chaired by Prof. Charitha Herath. This information was revealed at that meeting.
Prof. Charitha Herath told the committee that this sort of payment is a serious problem especially when the country is facing a financial crisis and action should be taken to look into this matter immediately.
