District Secretaries have informed the Sri Lanka Thriposha Company that the amount of maize that can be supplied for the production of Thriposha in the year 2021 is 570 MT.
From the reports given by the Ampara, Moneragala and Anuradhapura District Secretaries. That amount alone is enough for a week and the daily requirement for Thriposha production is 70 metric tons of maize.
This is according to the reports given by the Ampara, Moneragala and Anuradhapura District Secretaries. However, that quantity of maize is enough only for a week and the daily requirement for Thriposha production is 70 metric tons of maize.
The government decided on August 24 to import 10,000 metric tons of maize as it could not meet the demand.
Accordingly, only 2500 metric tons of maize has been imported so far.
Meanwhile, it has not been possible to supply 720 metric tons of full cream milk powder required for the production of Thriposha.
This is due to the increase in the price of a kilogram of milk powder by Rs. 225, and Milco announcing that milk powder can be supplied only at Rs. 1145.
