Boat order cancelled ; no agreement to recover loss! Featured

According to a report released by the National Audit Office, buyers had rejected an order of a boat ambulance, a ferry and stock of fishing gear manufactured by the Ceynor Foundation Ltd. resulting in a loss of around Rs. 30 million.

It states that Ceynor Foundation had manufactured these items ordered by the buyer without any agreement between 2015 and 2018, adding that so far no action has been taken to identify those responsible and recover the losses.

Meanwhile, the Audit Division has also uncovered information regarding an incident where Ceynor Foundation Ltd. had paid more than Rs. 3 million above the value of the IMUL A 0061 – KMN vessel.

The audit office also said that information had come to light that two valuable lathe machines purchased by the Sea-Knorr Foundation had been left unused and stored in storage, citing a lack of staff as an excuse.
