The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has noted that consumers are being misled by a local soap manufacturing company that is advertising their soap products as being CAA approved.
In a media statement, the CAA states that they give no such approval or certification to any product and urges the consumers not to fall for them.
The CAA also states that legal action will be sought against such advertising under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No.9 of 2003.
‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ learns that the media release has been issued with regard to the ‘Calin’ baby soap manufactured by Delma Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd.
Previously, the CAA had also filed a case with the Maligakanda court in Colombo over an issue regarding the TFM content of one particular batch of Calin baby soap (Batch No. CBAPE 002) and that the company has admitted the fault.
Subsequently, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had issued a public warning against buying the product.
