The deadline for submission of bids for SriLankan Airlines has been extended by 45 days, says Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva said during a media briefing today (March 05).
The live auction intended to select an investor for the divestiture of SriLankan Airlines was initially scheduled for today.
Speaking further, the minister also said that cabinet approval has been received for the government to absorb the USD 510 million outstanding debt by SriLankan Airlines.
Cabinet approval has also been given to allocate funds to maintain services of the national carrier for another six months, he added.
