Minister of Trade Nalin Fernando says measures are being taken to sell imported eggs through Lanka Sathosa outlets.

Minister Fernando said imported eggs will be sold for Rs. 35 each at all Sathosa outlets.

The process is expected to commence in the upcoming week.

According to the plans revealed by the Minister of Trade, they are hoping to release around 100,000 eggs to the market daily.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal to import eggs from India earlier this year, considering the shortage in the local market and also due to the increase in prices.

However, the imported eggs were only sold to hoteliers and bakery owners.
