This year’s tea production has shown a 20 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, according to Sri Lanka Tea Board (SLTB).
Accordingly, from January to October 2023 period, tea production totalled 216,259,369 Kg noting an increase compared to the 2022 that recorded 211,765,998.
Sri Lanka’s tea production for the month of October 2023 also recorded 22,852,239 Kg illustrating a 2 per cent increase compared to October 2022 where 18,991,659 Kg production was reported.
However, in contrast to production of instant tea from last year, October 2023 witnessed a dip in output recording 2,777,759 Kg as last October saw 3,123,838 Kg.
