Turkish Airlines commences direct flights to Sri Lanka (Pics)

Turkish Airlines today (30) commenced direct flights between Colombo and Istanbul.

According to the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Private Limited (AASL), direct flights between the two countries recommenced after a period of ten years.

Accordingly, four weekly flights will operate between the two countries on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The inaugural direct flight (TK 730) landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at 5.41 a.m. with 261 passengers and was welcomed by a celebratory water cannon salute upon arrival. Ceylon tea gift packs by the Sri Lanka Tea Board were gifted to the passengers.
