In a Tweet Shah Rukh Khan apologised for the delay but Mr Modi did ask for "creativity".
‘Voting is not only our Right, it is our Power.’ Please Use It, he said.
Voting for Indian elections began on 11 April, and the final ballot will be cast more than five weeks later on 19 May.
