Disagreement over committee report on cinema development Featured

The membership is in disagreement over the report of a committee tasked with recommending measures to develop Sinhala cinema.

The committee is due to handover its report to the president on April 03.

Its members had met several times, but each had tried only to include individual opinions in the report, a committee member told Sri Lanka Mirror.

The membership is yet to see the final report either, he said.

The committee comprises the chairman of the Film Corporation, Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya, Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne, Dr. Somaratne Dissanayake, Ravindra Randeniya, film directors, producers and film hall owners.

It is alleged the final report has been prepared with the intention of serving personal needs of Somaratne Dissanayake.

The president’s coordinating officer Sarath has invited 160 film professionals to a function to handover the report to the president.
